The much debated, criticized and now much hated Robert Lewandowski‘s move to Bayern Munich is apparently going to affect Borussia Dortmund, but they’re not the only one who will be effected by the Bosman transfer. Lewandowski was a key figure in the past few seasons along with Shinji Kagawa and Mario Gotze, who have left the Dortmund side to join Manchester United and Bayern respectively. But even in their absence, he has been dynamic.
Although his move has been loathed by the Dortmund faithfuls but nobody knows what life has in store for him in Munich. But there are some others who, quite evidently seem to be affected by the move. Manchester United, the Premier League strugglers, have been pursuing their strong interest in Dortmund hit man Marco Reus despite not being able to sign marquee players the previous summer. As manager, David Moyes’ position falls into jeopardy, United look set to miss on Marco Reus with only Bayern left to blame for it.
Both of these star men’s performances have played a huge role in Dortmund’s fortunes and considering the fact that Robert is leaving, Dortmund look desperate to hold onto the German. Without both of them, Dortmund would be left with no real quality and quickness in the midfield and this is something they are actually renowned for. Marco Reus, if utilized on the flanks, provides incredible width and speed to the Dortmund side and feeds in Lewandowski regularly, who converts the opportunities. Robert Lewandowski is not like a Javier Hernandez or Roberto Soldado and never hides behind defenders during plays. He makes himself visible to the creative midfielders and not only scores but also contributes to the others, like Arsenal ‘s Olivier Giroud. And rightly so, there’s no doubting the abilities of these two .
The Red Devils, who are desperately in need of quality midfielders have been heavily linked with move for a German.Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley, Shinji Kagawa and the likes have been serious disappointments for Moyes, who looks to have firmly set his sights on the Dortmund ace. But with the news of Lewandowski breaking out, the possibility of signing Reus looks impossible for the Red Devils and if David Moyes still pursues his interest in him, it will showcase a mere figment of his imagination and transfer negotiating abilities.
