London, July 13 (IANS) French football great Thierry Henry has left his position as youth coach at Arsenal club but will continue to work as a commentator in the United Kingdom with Sky Sports.

Henry, 38, who coached the Under-18 Gunners team, on Tuesday refused to leave the post of commentator after the coach of the first team, his countryman Arsene Wenger, said he could not combine both roles, reports Efe.

The top scorer in the history of Arsenal with 376 goals in 228 matches, joined Sky Sports team in December 2014, just 15 days after retiring from soccer with the New York Red Bulls.

Henry, who has an annual salary of around 4 million pounds ($5.2 million) from the private channel, worked for free for the north London team.

The post of Under-18 Arsenal coach will be occupied by another former player, English defender Tony Adams, assisted by former player Steve Bould.
