According to news reports ex-Arsenal superstar, Thierry Henry said that he is looking to come back to his most successful club for a third stint. Henry, who will turn 35 on August 17, reiterated his desire to return to Arsenal. Henry said that he was not sure in what capacity he would return, but said that he would definitely make a return to the Emirates once his contract with the New York Red Bulls expires.
He hinted that he might take up a coaching role at Arsenal. Arsene Wenger recently shuffled the team management after Pat Rice’s retirement. If Henry expresses his intent to return, Wenger might be tempted to include the Arsenal legend who can mentor the side.
Henry also said that when he returned last time around, it was not with a definite plan to play but rather just for training. The talismanic striker who has scored a total of 175 goals for the club including one scored during the recent loan stint in January 2012 would be an apt addition to the club which is facing trouble retaining senior players. A figure such as Henry in their midst could influence players of how serious ‘the Boss’ is about the club’s commitment to regaining silverware. Trophies have eluded the club since 2005.
Henry was quoted as saying, “Eventually I’d like to go back to Arsenal. I don’t know how, it depends. Seriously, I don’t know. I just want to finish my career. I would go back to England, for sure, with Arsenal. Coaching does interest me but I really don’t think about it right now.”
