Starting his career with the Blues in 2001, the former Chelsea manager quickly became a fan favorite due to his tactical intelligence, passing range, and goalscoring abilities. Seen as the driving force of the Blues midfield for nearly 13 years, Lampard became the highest-scoring midfielder in Premier League history.
The star made 648 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 211 goals and winning 13 trophies with the club. He was notably the runner-up to the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2005.
Central midfielder: Tommy Baldwin - 92 goals
Spending 8 years of his career at Stamford Bridge, Baldwin became one of Chelsea's most illustrious players in the late 60s and early 70s. Although he was often used to cover in attacking positions, he played as a midfielder for most of his career. In just 239 appearances for the club, he scored 92 goals, notably scoring on his debut against Manchester City.
Consistently picking up double digits in goals throughout his career with Chelsea, he inspired the club to win the European Cup Winners' Cup against Real Madrid and the FA Cup against Leeds United.
Central midfielder: Dennis Wise - 76 goals
Starting his illustrious Chelsea career in 1990, Dennis Wise became a Chelsea legend after playing 445 games. He helped the side to six trophies, including a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and two FA Cups. Voted Chelsea's player of the year twice, Wise was a competitive, brilliant goalscorer with excellent passing range.
He was usually embroiled in controversies, which left him often suspended and shown red cards. Still, Wise remained an inspirational player for the side. He led the midfield through one of Chelsea's most successful decades in football.
