Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the La Liga season as they broke down a resilient Eibar side thrice at home registering a 3-0 victory over the newly promoted team.

Veteran midfielder Xavi scored the opener after being set up by Lionel Messi who also bagged his 250th goal in La Liga after a wonderful one-two with Neymar. The Brazilian was also on the scoresheet as he scored the second through a superbly executed volley which confirmed a win for Barca, keeping them at the top of the table four points clear of Real Madrid.

The first half was frustrating for the Blaugranas as Messi and co failed to capitalise on the created opportunities. Eibar themselves squandered chances on two instances when Ander Capa and Saul Berjon both failed when through on goal.

But the deadlock was broken in the second half after an hour’s play when Xavi cooly converted Messi’s weighted through ball. Neymar then extended their lead after volleying home the second from Dani Alves’s cross. The Brazilian was also involved in the third goal as he provided the one touch pass to Messi who finished off the fantastic play right into the bottom-right corner.

With this victory Barca remain top of the table and are yet to concede a goal in La Liga. They travel to the Bernabeu next Saturday to take on Real Madrid in the first El Clasico this season.
