Fiorentina recorded a 2-1 win over Barcelona thanks to a brace from Federico Bernaderschi as the Champions League winners ended their pre-season with a defeat in the International Champions Cup.
Bernardeschi opened the account for the Italian side after only four minutes into the match and he furthered Fiorentina’s lead with just 12 minutes on the clock. Barcelona did not take too long to get on the scoresheet as Luis Suarez struck just five minutes after the Italian side had doubled their lead.
Suarez scored after getting at the end of a beautiful volley from Ivan Rakitic which was put away by the Uruguayan. Barcelona dominated the match and they enjoyed over 70 percent of the possession.
Luis Enrique’s men could not convert their possession into goals as Fiorentina held on for a victory against last season’s treble winners. Barcelona are without Lionel Messi and Neymar who were not part of the pre-season due to their involvement in the Copa America.
