It wasn’t Real Madrid’s most convincing win, but Carlo Ancelotti and his men will take the victory as they keep the pressure on league leaders Barcelona with their 2-4 away win against Celta Vigo. Javier Hernandez, who was fielded upfront with Cristiano Ronaldo as Karim Benzema is yet to return from his injury, was the best performer for his team as he scored twice to keep Madrid in the winning seat.
Nolito’s opener in the 9th minute for Celta Vigo caught Madrid with surprise, but it didn’t take the visitors a lot of time to retaliate as Toni Kroos equalised from 16-yards out. It was followed by a sumptuous goal from Hernandez after a good link-up between the Mexican and James Rodriguez.
Real Madrid’s defensive worries were starting to get apparent now as Celta Vigo scored an equaliser to make it 2-2 through Lorenzo Santi Mina as he scored on the rebound from a previous shot that had hit the post.
However, a goal from a deflected shot off James Rodriguez just before the half-time break meant that it was Real Madrid who were leading as the players went into their locker rooms. The Colombian was assisted by Cristiano Ronaldo.
It was Hernandez who scored the final goal of the match after a well-controlled pass from Sergio Ramos.
