Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic celebrates his goal against Maribor in the Champions League

Chelsea only managed to draw 1-1 away at Maribor after Eden Hazard missed a penalty in their Champions League G encounter.

Maribor were comprehensively beaten 6-0 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge but managed to hold on for a point at home.

The Slovenian league champions took the lead when Agim Ibraimi scored with a brilliant curling effort but saw their lead vanish when Nemanja Matic scored with a toe poke after John Terry’s headed effort reached the post.

Hazard, who has a terrific penalty record, missed this time making it 27 out of 30 penalties in his career. Chelsea were also frustrated when a Diego Costa goal was wrongly adjudged offside.
