Real Madrid thrashed Athletic Bilbao 5-0 on Sunday night at the Santiago Bernabeu with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick.
This was Ronaldo’s third hat-trick in four La Liga matches which now brings him level with the all-time record holders Alfredo Di Stefano and Telmo Zarra (22).
The hat-trick means that Ronaldo has now already scored 17 goals in all competitions this season.
Karim Benzema also grabbed a brace as Los Blancos went up to fourth spot after a dismal start to the season.

Madrid got off to a great start with Ronaldo scoring in the second minute after a cross from gareth Bale on the right found the Portuguese forward at the far post who headed in from close range.
Real Madrid 2-0 Athletic Bilbao: Benzema (41’)
Karim Benzema doubled the lead with a header from just outside the six yard box with Luka Modric providing the set piece delivery from a corner kick.
Real Madrid 3-0 Athletic Bilbao: Ronaldo (55’)
Gareth Bale assisted another goal when his cross found Ronaldo in the centre of the box and the Real Madrid star did the rest by slotting it home.
Real Madrid 4-0 Athletic Bilbao: Benzema (69’)
With Real Madrid on the counter, Ronaldo had the ball on the left side, making a run toward the box. But on seeing the goalkeeper come off his line, he squared the ball for Benzema to tap it into an empty net.
Real Madrid 5-0 Athletic Bilbao: Ronaldo (88’)
Ronaldo initially missed a number of chances to complete his record equalling hat-trick, but finall scored from a Real Madrid corner kick. Pepe got the assist as Ronaldo scored from the centre of the box into the bottom left corner.
