England beat Lithuania 4-0 on Friday night in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley. Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling, Danny Welbeck and Harry Kane got on the scoresheet to give the home side a comfortable win and stay six points ahead at the top of Group E.
Rooney scored as early as the sixth minute while also hitting the post twice in the first half. He is now just two goals behind Bobby Charlton’s all-time goal scoring record for England.
Welbeck scored with a low header when Jordan Henderson sent in a cross. It was deflected off a defender, but it was credited to Welbeck as his header was on target. This was his sixth goal for England in this Euro qualifying campaign. Raheem Sterling scored the third goal when he made a run into the box and side-footed Rooney’s cross from the right flank into the back of the net.
This was Harry Kane’s England debut and he needed only 79 seconds to score his first international goal when he came on as a substitute in the 70th minute. It was only his third touch of the match when Sterling’s header found him on the right side of the six-yard box and the Tottenham striker’s header crept in in spite of the goalkeeper's efforts to keep it out.
