Despite a poor show in the first half, Carlo Ancelotti’s men proved their quality in the second half with forward Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing a brace and Gareth Bale getting himself on the scoresheet, leading Real Madrid to a comfortable 3-0 victory over their city rivals, Getafe.
Real Madrid had a slow start to the game with their main attacking trio consisting of Ronaldo, Bale and Karim Benzema failing to link up and orchestrate any threat. However, coming into the second half, clearly Ancelotti’s words in the locker room had an effect on the team as they opened the scoring through Ronaldo in the 62nd ?minute.
French striker Benzema was the architect behind the goal after he showcased great composure and control over the ball, dribbling past two Getafe defender before setting up an easy opportunity for the Portuguese forward to take.
The lead was further doubled in the 67th minute by Bale who was set up for an easy tap-in by Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez who provided an accurate cross for the Welshman.
Rodriguez was successful in assisting yet another goal in the 78th minute after he was able to find Ronaldo in front of the goal with yet another clinical cross from the left flank.
