Newly promoted side Eibar made history when they notched their first win in La Liga on the opening weekend. Their opponents? The highly fancied Real Sociedad.
Eibar’s Ipurua Stadium is so small that only a little over 5,000 fans were there to witness the historic match.
Javier Lara struck in the final minute of the first half with a free kick from the tightest of angles to give the hosts all three points in what was a Basque derby. His free kick was hit so fiercely that goalkeeper Enaut Zubikaria had no chance.
Real Sociedad are by no means an easy opponent, considering they finished seventh last season and even played in the Champions League.
Their next game? An away trip to face the defending champions Atletico Madrid.
