Portugal beat Argentina 1-0 in an international friendly match at Manchester United’s home turf Old Trafford. Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were taken off at half-time, after which the game became dull and the winner came only in injury time.

Portugal’s second half substitute Raphael Guerreiro scored the winner in stoppage time with a header from a Ricardo Quaresma cross.

The match saw only a little over 41,000 fans turn up and most of the fans went home disappointed. Most of the fans were already on their way out of the stadium when Guerreiro scored the only goal of the game.

Both Messi and Ronaldo had decent chances to score but Messi hit the post while Ronaldo’s shot went over the bar when he should have passed the ball to Danny who was in a better position to score.

One moment in the match that made United fans hold their breath was when on loan winger Nani took out Angel Di Maria with a rash tackle. The Argentine winger limped off the pitch but rejoined the action soon after. He was taken off at the hour mark.
