Chances are Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber will have to sit out another whole year, owing to a pending operation, his fourth, on his injured right knee.
Badstuber injured his cruciate ligaments during Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Dortmund, last December.
Complications in the recovery process led to three surgeries in an unsuccessful effort to get better. According to the latest information, he will have to undergo a fourth operation, once his wounds heal completely.
As per the procedure, tissue segments from Badstuber’s left knee will be inserted in his right knee as soon as the condition of his operated knee is strong enough to withstand another surgery.
The operation, which will be carried out in the United States, will be held at the earliest in October and will be followed by a six-month recovery period which is sure to sideline the defender for the whole of next season.
