United, a club in transition after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure, have renewed hopes this season under new manager Jose Mourinho. Last 3 seasons have not been up to the club's standards, to say the least. The Portuguese manager started off his journey with a 2-0 win versus Wigan Athletic in the first preseason game last Saturday. United have flown to China now for their preseason tour where they will face Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Galatasaray in much harder tests. Before starting off the season, Jose will be looking to use these games to get the players accustomed to his style of play and also to find his best starting line-up.

The Red Devils’ last preseason game will be the Wayne Rooney Testimonial game against Everton at Old Trafford before starting off the new season at Wembley by taking on league champions, Leicester City, on 7 august for the FA Community Shield.
United have a fresh look to their squad with some really good signings. United's first signing was the impressive Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly for a fee of about £30 million on a four-year deal from Spanish club Villareal. Bailly had an excellent last season in La Liga and had a solid debut in the first preseason game against Wigan. Mourinho hoped the young defender would turn to be his Raphael Varane.
United's second signing is the diminutive 27-year-old Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan who signed for the English giants after having a terrific 2015-16 season at Borussia Dortmund. Incidentally, Mkhitaryan will become the first Armenian to play in the Premier League. He also had a great debut against Wigan last Saturday. Mkhitaryan is a key piece of business for United as he will be hoping to bring the much-needed creativity in their midfield.

United's third transfer this season is the blockbuster signing of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for free after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. With Rooney slowly becoming more suited to a midfield role, United hoped for a number 9 and who better to get than Zlatan? The flamboyant 34-year-old has already become a fan favorite without kicking the ball in a United kit and he will be looking to keep his impressive goal-scoring record going in England too.
There are plenty of positive signs for Manchester United ahead of the new season and a lot to look forward to with a new-look team and rejuvenated hopes.
