Paris St. Germain negotiated a group containing former competition winners Bayern Munich, Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Kyiv to become the first team since Milan to go perfect in a Champions League group-stage campaign.
In the quarterfinals, PSG drew 1-1 with Barcelona in the first leg before beating the Catalan side 2-1 in Paris to complete a 3-2 aggregate win.
However, in the semis against defending champions Milan, PSG met their match. A solitary goal home defeat in the first leg was followed by a 0-2 defeat at the San Siro, which put paid to PSG's hopes of lifting the title.
