No major signings by Real Madrid after the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus had left the Madrid fans in a spot of bother as they lost the services of a world-class forward who scored nearly 50 goals a season.
Post Ronaldo's transfer, the champions of Europe found it difficult to win games, but with time they have adjusted well enough and the senior men in the squad have taken the responsibility of scoring, and their captain Sergio Ramos has taken over the duty of converting penalties.
The likes of Vasquez, Asensio, and Vincius Jr are the ones who have benefited a lot with more game time. Madrid expected Bale to lead the attack, but nothing went Madrid's way as none of the senior players was able to score as regularly as Ronaldo did.
However, it now seems like Perez's number nine, Karim Benzema, has risen to the occasion at the best time possible.
The French striker in recent seasons has been criticised time and time again for his decreasing goal tally. Benzema in the previous two seasons couldn't even get to the mark of 20 goals.
This time around it seems like he is back on track and hunting. Benzema is getting more game time and he has returned the favour with 19 goals. One-fourth of the season is yet to be played and further fireworks are expected from the French forward.

Ronaldo has played 32 games this season in which he has scored 21 times while Benzema has played 38 games in which he has found the back of the net 19 times. These figures seem to be quite good especially when one considers the fact that Benzema is not the preferred option for penalties.
With Benzema amongst the goals, it seems Florentino Perez and Madrid's problems have found an ideal solution for now, but the Blancos do need a replacement of the highest calibre as soon as possible.
