Why are the USA in Copa America?
The United States of America participates in the Copa America as a member nation of the CONCACAF, also known as The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football.
For the 2024 edition of the Copa America, the CONMEBOL joined hands with its North American counterpart, CONCACAF to find a suitable host country. In return, the CONCACAF nations got six spots to participate in the tournament. As one of the member nations, USMNT (United States Men’s National Soccer Team) qualified for a spot in the tournament.
