What's the story?

Real Madrid star, Alvaro Odriozola, has made a bold claim stating that his Los Blancos team-mate Karim Benzema is the best number nine on the planet.

Despite the staggering numbers of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski, Odriozola believes that no other striker can match his teammate.

In case you didn't know...

Despite enduring a tough season after the departure of the club's record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, Karim Benzema has proven himself to be an asset for Real Madrid.

The French number nine has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos, portraying his impact on Madrid's attacking line. His 89th minute winner against Huesca last night was his 14th league goal of the season. Benzema has also racked up 9 assists in all competitions, 5 of them coming in the LaLiga.

The French forward came to Madrid's rescue last night as his late winner helped Los Blancos grab all three points against Huesca with a 3-2 win. With this goal, Benzema has scored against every opponent he has faced in the LaLiga - a feat neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi achieved in their glittering careers.

Real Madrid currently sit third on the La Liga table with 57 points, 12 behind league leaders Barcelona.

The heart of the matter

Real Madrid right-back, Alvaro Odriozola, heaped praise on the Frenchman as he claimed that Benzema is the best number nine in the world.

"Karim has an incredible quality," the full-back told Real Madrid TV as quoted by Goal.
"I always say that he is the best 'number nine' in the world and he has shown it again."

Odriozola also admitted that there is room for improvement for Real Madrid.

"There are things that need to be improved, we won and that is what is important. We put everything on the field to make things go better in the second half," he added.

What's next?

Real Madrid will face Valencia away before hosting Eibar at home in the upcoming LaLiga fixtures.
