Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla admits that he is happy at the Emirates and a move to Atletico Madrid is unlikely.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone had earlier made it clear that he is interested in the player.
“There has been a lot of speculation about a move to Atletico Madrid but I’m very happy at Arsenal, I have a contract there and I start training on Monday,” he told ESPN. “Perhaps I will return to Spain one day, but right now it’s very unlikely.”
Cazorla, 28, joined Arsenal last summer from Malaga for £15 million and was clearly the club’s best player throughout the whole campaign, netting 12 goals in 38 league appearances.
When asked about Spain team-mate David Villa’s move to Atletico Madrid, Cazorla said he was pleased for him.
“I’m very happy for Villa, because he had a difficult year with Barcelona due to his injury (a broken leg he suffered in December 2011), but now he’s got another chance to shine again.”
