Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted that the past season has been full of ups and downs for him, but the youngster insists that he has learnt a lot in the same time.
The 19-year-old, who had his debut with Arsenal last season, started just 11 times in the Premier League games, but the winger managed to end his campaign on a high note as he scored a brilliant goal in England’s impressive draw with Brazil at the Maracana.
Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “It has been an up and down season for me but I have learnt a lot. No-one knew what to expect from me in my first season at Arsenal and everything I did was a bonus. This season people expect you to continue in the same way, and so did I. I have made a few steps forward in certain areas of my game, and had a few setbacks that have helped me to learn.
But I am happy with how my season has gone, and the way we finished with Arsenal. I’m really looking forward to next season. I’m still young, and every day I am involved with either Arsenal or England will help me. I have to make sure I keep working hard and hopefully things will go well for me.”Arsenal had a bad start to the year and their loss at Spurs on March 3 had left them seven points behind their local rivals, but the Gunners managed to go ten games without a defeat, beating Newcastle United on the last day of the season to pip Spurs by a single point.
“The way we finished the season and the confidence we take from that will stand us in good stead,” added Oxlade-Chamberlain.Source: Mirror
