The debutants of the upcoming I-League season, Minerva Punjab FC are already in the news as they acquire Apollo Tyres as their official sponsors. Apollo Tyres is currently sponsoring English Premier League giant Manchester United. Now, they are all set to enter Indian football by joining hands with the team from Punjab. This will surely be a great boost to the side and a great endorsement for the I-League itself.
The context
A number of I-League clubs had complained about the delay in the announcement of the schedule of the tournament, which caused a lot of problems for the owners to garner sponsors for their teams. Now, with everything settled, the clubs have finally started to garner the sponsors.
The heart of the matter
Three players from Minerva Punjab graced Indian squad in the recently concluded FIFA U17 World Cup. They will surely look forward to expand their quest for better players. Now when the deal has been finalised, Minerva Punjab management will look to seal the deal with UEFA ‘A’ license holder Parvinder Singh as team’s technical director.
Now, Minerva Punjab are set to get their I-League season underway, with Apollo Tyres as their new sponsors, something that gives them a bit of a connection with Manchester United.
