Brazilian center back Luciano Sobrosa and striker Josimar are set to join Mohammedan Sporting next season. The two played for Salgaocar in the 2012-13 I-League, with Luciano being the club captain while Josimar joined in the winter transfer window and scored six goals in nine matches to help the Goan club avoid relegation.
A source close to Mohammedan Sporting confirmed to Sportskeeda on Tuesday that personal agreement has been reached with both players and the deals will be completed once their current contract with Salgaocar expires.
Following their return to the I-League after four years, the 122-year-old club were eager to build a strong team for next season and both Luciano and Josimar were in the list prepared by former coach Sanjoy Sen, who guided the Kolkata giants to promotion and later resigned.
Luciano first played for Sporting Clube de Goa in the I-League before joining Salgaocar and won the I-League and Federation Cup with them. Striker Josimar made a name for himself at United Sports Club and his performances for Salgaocar this season enhanced his reputation.
Nigerian Coach?
Mohammedan Sporting are also close to signing Nigerian Abdul Aziz Moshood as their new coach. Moshood is currently working in the lower tiers of Finland with Atlantis FC but has held formal talks with the Kolkata club and an announcement is expected to be made in the next few days.
