DSK Shivajians came up with a dominant performance to outclass East Bengal 2-0 in an I-League match at the Balewadi Stadium here on Sunday.
Goals from Douhou Pierre (9th minute) and Juan Quero (66th minute) were enough to secure all three points for the Pune side.
Despite the win, DSK stayed at the bottom of the table with nine points from 10 games, while East Bengal are in the third position with 17 points from 10 games.
The home side made five changes with Prasanjit Ghosh, Rohan Adnaik, Shrikanth Molangiri, Indrajit Chougale, and Israil Gurung making way for Surchandra Singh, Milan Singh, Subrata Paul, Sandesh Jhingan and Baljit Sahni.
The visitors made six changes as Luis Barreto, Narayan Das, Samad Ali Mallick, Sanju Pradhan, Bikash Jairu and Mohammed Rafique were replaced by T.P. Rehenesh, Saumik Dey, Rahul Bheke, Abhinash Ruidas, Dong-Hyun Do and Shylo Malsawmatulanga.
The hosts got the advantage right at the start as Pierre scored a good goal to make it 1-0 to the joy of the home crowd.
The Kolkata club never looked good enough to find the equaliser as DSK pressed on to find their second goal.
Coming into the second half, the hosts played some attacking football and found their second goal in the 66th minute. From there on, the DSK defence held on and managed keep the East Bengal forwards at bay.
