Kolkata giants East Bengal are in advanced talks to sign Nigerian forward Dudu Omagbemi, Sportskeeda can reveal.
The red-and-gold brigade have already signed star striker Ranti Martins but have released his compatriot Edeh Chidi and thus Dudu is expected to be the replacement.
Dudu first arrived in Indian football back in 2001 when he joined Sporting Clube. He had loan spells at Dempo and Salgaocar also but became a star after his return to Sporting Clube as he helped them finish runners-up twice in the Federation Cup and once in the National Football League.
He left Sporting Clube in 2007 and went on to have stints in Europe, even featuring in the UEFA Champions League for Hungarian club Debreceni.
Dudu returned to India in February 2014 by signing for Salgaocar and inspired the Goan club to a third place finish in the I-League with five goals in ten appearances.
East Bengal are hoping to confirm Dudu’s move soon while Trinidad and Tobago World Cupper Densil Theobald remains a target to fulfil the marquee foreigner criteria.
Their pre-season starts from July 8 with Ranti expected to arrive in Kolkata by July 10.
