According to DNA India, the outgoing coach Armando Colaco has said that the interference of the support staff has lead to a bad atmosphere in the Goan side. There were a few officials in the team who interfered in the team selection and recommended players in the playing eleven, which has divided the team and thus created a bad ambience in his side.

Having served the club for 32 years, first as a player and then as a coach, the 59-year-old is ready to end his association with the Goan club.

Colaco, under whom Dempo has won three I-league titles, was anxious about the team’s future.

Colaco said: “There were a few officials in the team who interfered in the team selection and recommended players in the first eleven. This has divided the team and has created a bad ambience in the side. There are rumours that Arthur Papas, the Pailan Arrows’ coach, might take over. I wish him all the best.”

When asked to why the club management did not want to to renew his contract for the coming season, Colaco said: “That is life and it goes on. I am a Dempo man and will always be one. The team has made me something. I feel sad to be away from the team, especially the manner in which the association had to end.”

Dempo S.C have had a bad season and it can also be one of the reasons for his abrupt exit but the allegation that he has taken money from players is believed to be the main reasons for the management to have taken this decision.

Colaco added: “I should thank Dempo as they trusted me in various occasions, especially when the club was down and out.”
