38-year-old Indian international goalkeeper Sandip Nandy has decided to return to Kolkata to ply his trade for Mohun Bagan AC for the 2013/14 season, a year after winning the I-League for Churchill Brothers.
Sandip Nandy had a strong I-League season under the bar and was one of the key players in Churchill Brothers’ I-League triumph, but he wanted to return home and Churchill Brothers couldn’t agree to his terms.
Mohun Bagan Football Secretary Uttam Saha said, “We are extremely pleased with the signing of Sandip Nandy and thank Libero Sports India who facilitated the transfer. I am confident Sandip will play a vital role for the team next season, as he did in 1997 when Mohun Bagan won the National Football League and we look forward to him joining us.”
The five-time NFL/I-League champion returns to Mohun Bagan with whom he had won his first title after also playing for Tollygunge Agragami, East Bengal Club, Mahindra United, Prayag United and, until recently, Churchill Brothers SC.
Arvind Narayan, Libero Sports partner and Sandip’s FIFA Licensed players agent said on his client’s signing: “Sandip is one of the best goalkeepers in India at the moment and will be a great addition to Mohun Bagan. He will help Mohun Bagan in their quest for winning titles on all fronts. He is looking forward to playing in front of the vociferous Kolkata crowd. We wish him all the best.”
