"I need to shoot more, rather than do something that looks nice!": Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard is quoted heavily in the media today and has delivered a warning to our Premier League rivals. Hazard has taken a look back at his performances last term and believes that, with a different approach, he could set goal scoring records to emulate the performances of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi!

He said:

‘Every year, I am improving and getting better and better, but I want to be even more effective. My dream is 50 or even 60 goals like Messi and Ronaldo.

They have shown it is possible, so maybe I can do the same. I had a lot of assists last season and a few goals, but the problem is that I tend to choose the beautiful option too often and dribble with the ball, when a different way might cause more damage.

Sometimes I lack the killer instinct, but I mean to change that. I need to shoot more, rather than look to do something that looks nice, and that is what I will be trying to do next season.’

It’s a warning to the Premier League and beyond next season if you ask me, as Hazard made a real impact in England this season.

Of course, like with anyone, there are times when he decides to go with the wrong option, whether that is a the wrong pass or deciding to shoot from the wrong position. Everyone is guilty of doing the same at times, but for Hazard to be open and honest about it at such a young age is a credit to him.

If Hazard can follow in the footsteps of Juan Mata and improve his goal scoring record and make a significant contribution with his return, Chelsea will have a fantastic chance of putting together a realistic title challenge next season.

Eden Hazard is a different class. If he adds the goals he is talking about, he would be right up there with the likes of Ronaldo and Messi!
