Former Atletico Madrid and Premier League star, Fernando Torres, reveals that he tried to persuade FC Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta to sign for Atletico Madrid.

Known for their exploits in the past decade or so, the footballing world is familiar with both Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta.
Although Torres and Iniesta faced off as rivals in their club career, both of them were part of the golden generation of the Spanish team. As teammates, they helped Spain win the Euro and World Cup with their impact on the pitch.
Both Torres and Iniesta experienced glittering club careers too. Torres went on to succeed with Premier League giants like Liverpool and Chelsea - racking up 85 goals and 29 assists over 200 appearances.
On the other hand, Iniesta remained a pivotal part of Barcelona for the most part of his career and went on to win everything there is to win at the highest level of the game.
Both of them are almost at the end of their decorated careers and are now playing in Japan.
The heart of the matter
Fernando Torres reveals that he tried to secure the services of Iniesta by persuading the midfielder to join Atletico Madrid when they were strangers, although they both were teammates for the youth category teams of Spain.
"I remember I tried to get you to sign for Atletico," Torres revealed in an interview with Iniesta for DAZN as quoted by Spanish outlet Marca.
"You were starting to come through at Barcelona, playing the odd game. I said you can play here, but you told me it was impossible."
"I didn't have good vision.", added the former Spain forward.
Iniesta jogged down memory lane and spoke about their time with Spanish youth teams..
"At the national team level we played together in all the different categories," the former Barcelona captain said.
"Normally we both started, so we enjoyed it a lot.", Iniesta concluded.
