What's the story?
After a shock defeat saw Real Madrid knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax, Barcelona star Luis Suarez took to Twitter to share his thoughts regarding the shock result.
In case you didn't know...
Real Madrid suffered their 4th consecutive home loss as they were knocked out of Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League in the last week. La Liga practically looks over for them as they are 3rd on the table and 12 points behind leaders Barcelona.
After their defeat in the Champions League against Ajax, the Los Blancos are destined to go without any trophies this season unless a miracle occurs in the Spanish top flight.
Madrid failed to win once again against their bitter rivals Barcelona this season, losing three and drawing one game in the process. Luis Suarez played a huge role as he scored 5 times in these last four fixtures.
Being a former striker in the Ajax side, Suarez garnered huge interest due to his exploits with the Dutch side which led to a move to Premier League giants Liverpool.
The heart of the matter
Luis Suarez has been an immense performer against Real Madrid and has been involved in controversial clashes with Madrid players over the years.
His recent face-off against Los Blancos defender Sergi Reguilon saw him mocking the young defender with a crying gesture which led to Reguilon reportedly calling him 'ugly' during the latest installment of the Clasico.
After playing a key role in Madrid's three defeats against bitter rivals Barcelona, the Uruguayan star enjoyed the Los Blancos' shocking defeat at the hands of his former club. He hailed Ajax for their sensational performances and admitted his admiration for his former club in social media.
The former Ajax striker retweeted a tweet from Ajax's official account that mentioned their victory against Real Madrid and wrote, "Congratulations, I have always been a fan of Ajax."
There is no doubt that most papers would see this as a subtle dig after the defeat of Real Madrid.
What's next?
Barcelona will face Girona in the Catalan Cup before facing Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga, followed by an encounter against Lyon in the Champions League.
