Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway is sure about Wilfried Zaha being capable enough to be in the first team at Manchester United. The 20-year-old was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in the mid-season transfer window of last season for £15million but was kept at Palace for the rest of the season on loan.
Zaha helped the Eagles gain promotion in the Premier League via the play-off final, after the club finished the season on the 5th position in the Championship table. The England international won the Football League Championship PFA Player of the Year 2012-13 for his performances in the league. Zaha who can play as winger or striker scored 8 goals in 50 games last season.
There were speculations about Zaha joining Crystal Palace on loan again, but Holloway was of the view that Zaha was good enough to start for United and a move to Palace seems highly unlikely.
Speaking to Talksport he said: “I don’t think for one minute I’d ever consider asking Davd Moyes (about signing him) right now. I don’t think it’s fair to the boy. He’s got to have a go at Man United.
“I’m sure I know Moyes that well that if there was a club in the Premier League that Wilfried Zaha wanted to play for, if it wasn’t Manchester United, I’m sure it would be us, so I’m sure the phone would ring.
“But, let’s be perfectly honest, I think the boy is so exciting he’s going to have a chance at Man United, and I can see him getting in their first team and I genuinely mean that.”
