Manchester United chief executive David Gill has confirmed that the club want to sign Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha.
But the Eagles boss, Ian Holloway, is fed up with the all the speculations concerning Zaha and shot a brutal rant at television and newspaper journalists after his side lost 4-1 to Stoke in FA Cup third round on Tuesday.
“Christ sake, write about something else!… I’m sick and fed-up of reading about him [Zaha]. Last Thursday didn’t help him, did it. If it happens it happens. If it doesn’t, it don’t. Try get other stories.
And as for little programme on the telly. where you’re counting down. Just go get a job. Get a life. However many days, and however many hours are left till this stupid, pathetic window, that forces people to have to do things. It’s not very good is it. Holloway raged.
Holloway also had a verbal altercation with the referee for booking Zaha for diving in an attempt to cut a first-half penalty against Stoke City, and added: ‘Wilf’s got a knock on his ankle which shows he was caught in the challenge. He’s not a cheat, why does everyone think he dives?’
‘I see it week in, week out in the Premier League and I hate it. If I think a player of mine has dived then he gets fined a week’s wages – but he did not dive.
‘I get called a cheat, and that is wrong. Wilf is not a cheat, and nor am I. I know referees make mistakes, but it was a clear penalty. He says he had a good view of it, so he should have given it.’
