Liverpool football club’s highest goal scorer and club legend, Ian Rush has urged Daniel Sturridge to stay at the Merseyside club and help the team push for the title.
The Welshman who is one of Liverpool’s greatest ever footballers believes that getting rid of Sturridge would be a bad idea as he considers him to a vital player for the team.
“For me I think it would be wrong if Liverpool got rid of him because for me he’s a great finisher,” Rush said while speaking to Omnisport.
“Not just him but so is Firmino, Coutinho, [Divock] Origi and Mane. They’re all needed - it’s not just the 11 on the pitch it’s the 19 to 21 players, throughout the season when they get asked to do it and when they come in, they do the job,” said the former Welsh striker.

Daniel Sturridge hasn’t been Klopp’s preferred striker as the German has regularly played Roberto Firmino in the England striker’s place. Due to a limited amount of opportunities, Sturridge has failed to make any kind of impact for the club in the Premier League so far this season.
Ian Rush calls Sturridge a ‘fantastic’ player
The former Liverpool striker praised Sturridge and said, "Daniel Sturridge is a team player. When you get there it’s about taking that chance and I’m sure his chance will come. For me he’s a major part for Liverpool football club.
“He’s probably the most gifted finisher we have. He’s a fantastic player, fantastic finisher and I’m sure when he’s fit he’ll make himself available,” said Rush.
The England international has started four games for the Reds and is yet to score in the Premier League so far this season. Injuries have come back to haunt Sturridge and the striker is set to miss the game against West Ham United later this week, having missed the last two games already.

Daniel Sturridge has been warming the bench for most of the season as his compatriots like Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino have been on a roll scoring and setting up goals for the team.
Sturridge will play a part in January, says Rush
But Sturridge might finally get a place in Klopp’s starting XI in January, as the club’s Senegalese attacker, Sadio Mane will be representing his national side at African Cup of Nations in January next year.
Rush believes Sturridge will play a major part in the absence of Sadio Mane: "Think you’ve got Mane going away to AFCON in January and I think Daniel Sturridge will play a major part in Liverpool’s run in. He’s most probably the most natural finisher Liverpool have."
Daniel Sturridge has been one of Liverpool’s deadliest finishers having scored 43 goals in just 59 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League.
