India’s U-17 World Cup squad defeated German side JFG Mangfalltal U-19s 5-2 in the third friendly on their tour of Germany. This result was the Indian Colts’ 2nd win out of the 3 matches they’ve played, with them defeating DFI Bad Aibling 2-1 in their previous match and going down 3-2 to Jahn Regensburg in the first match of the tour.
The match started with the Indian team on the attack and they made their dominance count, as they took the lead in the 12th minute through Sanjeev. Although the Germans equalised through a penalty, the visitors were back on top after some great link-up play in midfield freed Komal for the chance, who didn’t make any mistake. The last few minutes of the first half saw Mangfalltal come back on level terms from a set-piece.
The Indian Colts worked hard to ensure that they did not lose any momentum in the 2nd half, and looked to go forward at every available opportunity. All their patience and endeavour paid dividends, when in the 79th minute, Aniket rifled his shot into the goal to give his team a 3-2 lead.
The away side were not happy with just the lead, and went on the offensive, ensuring that they killed off their opponents by scoring two more quickfire goals. Thus, a match which saw the Indian U-17 World Cup squad dominate finished 5-2 in their favour.
With this result, the Indian team have now won 2 out of their 3 matches so far on this exposure tour. This is definitely a great start to a long and gruelling 2 month tour for Nicolai Adam’s boys, and will ensure that the team gets good match experience under their belt in the build-up to the 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup.
