Indian football team all set for friendly clash against Oman

In a build up to the AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Nepal next month, the Indian football team is all set to play a friendly against Middle Eastern powerhouse Oman on Thursday, the 23rd of February, at the SEEB Stadium in Muscat.

They are currently training at the Sevens Stadium, Al Ain Road, Dubai where they are holding open practice sessions (open to the general fans and public, that is) from 4 to 6 p.m. every day.

The side will leave for Muscat on the 21st and will return to their base camp in Dubai on the 24th. On the 27th, they will play European side Azerbaijan at the Sevens Stadium. This match has been declared free for the fans to watch. They will finally end their Middle Eastern tour with a game against an unnamed Iranian club on the 1st of March. They will leave from Dubai on the 3rd.

The India vs Oman game will be telecast LIVE on Ten Action+. Kick off is slated for 7:55 PM.

The team at Indian coach Savio Madeira’s disposal is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Karanjit Singh (Salgaocar), Subhasish Roychowdhury (Dempo SC), Arindam Bhattacharya (Churchill Brothers), Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Kingfisher East Bengal).

Defenders: Nirmal Chhetri, Raju Gaikwad (both Kingfisher East Bengal), Sameer Naik (Dempo SC), Gourmangi Singh (Churchill Brothers), Anwar Ali, Kinsukh Debnath, Syed Rahim Nabi (all McDowell Mohun Bagan), Arnab Mondal (Prayag United), Gurjinder Singh (Pune FC).

Midfielders: Adil Khan (Sporting Clube de Goa), Anthony Pereira, Clifford Miranda (both Dempo), Reisangmi Vashum (Kingfisher East Bengal), Baldeep Singh, Lester Fernandes (both Pune FC), Rocus Lamare, Francis Fernandes (both Salgaocar SC), Jewel Raja, Manish Mathani (McDowell Mohun Bagan), Lenny Rodrigues, Lalrindika Ralte (both Churchill Brothers).

Forwards: Sunil Chhetri (McDowell Mohun Bagan), Sushil Singh (Shillong Lajong FC – on loan), CS Sabeeth (Pailan Arrows), Manandeep Singh (Air India), Joaquim Abranches (Dempo SC).

Adil Khan missed three training sessions due to an ankle injury. Sunil Chhetri is still suffering from an injury that he suffered during the SAFF Championship 2011 Final in December and is doubtful for the first two games.
