Andres Iniesta has put to rest rumours of his hesitance to renew his Barcelona contract.Goal.com reports.

Iniesta clarified that the legwork is being sorted out and the new contract is going to signed as per plan. The club had expressed their keenness in retaining the midfielder’s services, but news from the rumour-mills suggested otherwise.

Iniesta cleared things out by saying saying: “There is nothing strange or any war going on between Barca and Iniesta. The club wants me here and I want to stay here.” The midfielder also made it clear that the apparent delay had nothing to do with financial considerations, going on to say that his only aim is to better himself and further his team’s chances at winning titles during the remainder of his time at the club.

Iniesta did not start in Barcelona’s four competitive games so far but has expressed his approval of Gerardo Martino’s rotation policy. “The most important thing is that we are all getting to play a role and feel useful. Nobody likes being dropped, but it happens to us all,” is what the 29 year old midfielder had to say.
