HARDSELL: Massimo Moratti has shot down rumors of him selling the club

Inter Milan president and owner Massimo Moratti has rubbished reports that he sold club shares worth £300 million to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir. BBC Sport reports.

Negotiations have been going on between Moratti and Thorir , who recently acquired MLS team DC United and NBA side Philadelphia 76ers.

Reports claim that the parties have reached a preliminary, non-legally binding agreement.

In spite of such reports Moratti stated that it may take another month for the deal to be finalized.

Thorir is reportedly interested in acquiring a 75% stake in the Nerazzurri, who are saddled with around £250 million in debts and are face with a financial loss.

Moratti clarified reports of him meeting with Thorir and other parties who have expressed interest from Indonesia and confessed that the feedback has been positive.

“It was an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better and also to meet the people who could come on board with Thohir in any agreement,” said Moratti.

“It was more an opportunity to get to know them than to make a decision. And there are no big problems to resolve either.”

The 68-year-old has seen the San Siro side win five Serie A titles, one Champions League and one Uefa Cup, under his presidency which begun in 1995.

The Italian admitted that he is unlikely to continue his reign as president after the club’s takeover but hope to still have a part to play in the club.
