Inter Milan has secured its place in the Champions League final after defeating the defending champion Barcelona by 3-2 in aggregate. Though Milan was defeated by 1-0 in semifinal’s second leg on Wednesday night, they manged to survive in the contest because of their wonderful performance in the first leg when they defeated Barcelona by 3-1. Following this win at Nou Camp stadium in Barcelona, Milan enters the Champions League final for the first time in 38 years. Milan will be looking forward to their third title. Previously, they have won the title in 1964 and 1965 when the tournament was known as the Champion Clubs’ Cup.
Inter lost their player Thiago Motta when he received a yellow card in the 10th minute of the game which was followed by a red card in the 28th minute when he entangled with Barcelona footballer Sergio Busquets. Due to this Motta suffers suspension from the final.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola fielded an attack with Pedro,Leo Messi and Ibrahimovich when he realized that his team needed two goals in the final. The attack put Inter under pressure and Pedro stroked a volley in the 22nd minute to score a goal but failed when it went narrowly wide.
The first goal of the match came in the 84th minute when Gerard Pique who plays in centre back position was sent forward to play as an extra striker. The decision proved fruitful when he scored a goal for the Barcelona. Bojan Krkick tried to make another goal but was not permitted because of a handball called on Yaya Toure during the build up.
Inter will now play against Bayern Munich in the final on May 22 at Madrid.
