Ex-Valencia and Aston Villa striker John Carew has decided to come out of retirement to sign for Internazionale. The Nerazzurri have been on the hunt for a quick-fix after Diego Milito was hit by injury and ruled out for the season.
The Serie A outfit had been linked with Emile Mpenza and Ruud Van Nistelrooy in their attempts to fill the void left by the Argentine international’s absence. But it has been learnt of late that Inter have opted for the Norwegian forward, who has not seen the pitch since playing for the Hammers in the summer of 2012.
The 33-year old is understood to be flying to Milan to have his medical at the San Siro within 48 hours. Carew has had a prior experience of playing in the Seire A when he was on loan at Roma from Valencia in the 2003-04 season, with the striker scoring six goals for the Giallorossi in 20 Serie A games.
