Fresh off beating Wolverhampton Wanderers for just their second win of the season, Ipswich Town host Newcastle United at Portman Road on Saturday. The Tractor Boys are yet to pick up their first victory at home in the Premier League this term.
Jack Taylor netted his first goal in the English top flight last weekend to earn Kieran McKenna’s side a dramatic last-minute victory against the Wolves. Those three points could have huge ramifications in the relegation battle come the end of the season.
Ipswich are now 18th in the table but more importantly, they are just two points behind 17th-placed Leicester City.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United seem to have gotten themselves back on the rails after seemingly losing their way a bit over the previous several weeks. They snapped a four-game winless streak last weekend by putting Leicester City to the sword in emphatic fashion.
The Magpies won the game 4-0 but Eddie Howe will need to elicit a lot more consistency from his players if they are to better their position in the Premier League table. They are currently 12th but it's crucial to note that fourth-placed Nottingham Forest have only five more points than Newcastle do.
Newcastle will also be riding into Saturday's match fancying their chances after beating Brentford 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the League Cup in midweek.
Sandro Tonali bagged a brace and Fabian Schar also found the back of the net for Newcastle as Yoane Wissa came up with a last-ditch consolation goal for Brentford.
