AC Milan CEO Galliani has refused to rule out Stephan El Shaarawy’s exit.
Manchester City, amongst others, are reportedly interested in him. However, I want to recall Mario Balotelli’s transfer to Man City just after winning the Champions League in 2010. Never, until moving to AC Milan, had he fixed a first team spot for himself.Yes, he did score goals, braces, hat tricks but there is a lot more to Mario Balotelli than just that. His role is not” come off the bench, score, if not, then you are useless”.
I think El Shaarawy is a lot like the Balotelli of 2010 and if he makes the correct decision about his future he can go on to become one of the top footballers in the world. What matters most for Italian players is the style of play. The one we see in Manchester City doesn’t at all suit El Shaarawy. The move will be a waste of money. It might even ruin his talent. I think El Shaarawy should leave Milan, but for a club in Italy only, since right now I don’t see as many opportunities for him as I did before Balotelli moved to AC Milan. Napoli wont be too bad and if Cavani moves to Chelsea, then Napoli would need a striker spot to fill.
El Shaarawy would not be a bad fit in Juventus either. I don’t think he should move to a club of Europa league standards. He should play for a club that has qualified for the UEFA Champions League, but Italian. Right now Napoli or Juventus seem the best options for him, but Napoli seems a more preferable option as there wont be as much pressure as there would be in Juventus, and Napoli is an excellent club and are serious contenders for next year’s Serie A. They also qualified for the Champions League as they came second in Serie A. However, Napoli haven’t shown interest in the striker and if no interest is shown from Juventus or Napoli, then El Shaarawy should stay. But what’s best for Stephan El Shaarawy will be decided by his agent and El Shaarawy himself.
We will see what will happen to El Shaarawy when the transfer market commences.
