Shinji Kagawa has arrived at Manchester United. Every single Man Utd supporter is glad to hear the sound of those words and so am I. The 23 year old has done enough to impress ‘The Great Scot’, it seems. His last season with Borussia Dortmund was pretty good and thus he finds himself at United this season.

He is good, but the question that remains at the heart of every Man United supporter is whether Kagawa will do the job? And the answer to this question is no. Some might argue that we (Man Utd) have also attained the services of the rather young Nick Powell but having said that, everyone has to keep in mind that he is only 18 and still needs times to develop, to play in the top flight of English football.

What United need is a big, strong and athletic holding midfielder, someone like Cheick Tiote and of course a left back. Baines it seems is a possibility to replace the ageing Evra. Leighton Baines is 27, he is physically and mentally strong, can run down the left flank during attack and has a good accuracy from free-kicks.

Scholes was asked to come back half way through last season and though some call it desperation, I call it a master stroke from Sir Alex Ferguson. His pass completion rate was exceptional and he scored 4 times in 20 appearances, not bad for a 37 year old. Yes he is past his expiry date, and that’s a reason why I think Tiote would be a good replacement. Cheick has a more physical game and though he might not have the great passing abilities that Paul possesses he will learn and improve in time.

Shinji Kagawa will sparkle, but a couple of new faces in the squad would really make Manchester United a lively and fun side to watch and with that also a title winning side.
