Is this the end of Lampard's England Career?

Varun

19th May, 2012 will probably go down as one of the greatest nights in the history of Chelsea football club. For generations, the Chelsea faithful will talk about it.

Chelsea fans still haven’t settled down, haven’t fully absorbed the fact that they won the Holy Grail of (European) football.

Frank Lampard, if not greatest, one of the greatest midfielders in Chelsea, England and World football, did his part in Chelsea’s success when he lifted the Champions League.

Though he may be over the moon, he may have to come to face the fact that his recent injury has probably cost him his career at the International level.

He would have obviously dreamt of winning the EURO 2012, and must have marked June 9th on his calendar even before the domestic season has ended.

Apart from losing his chance to conquer Europe again on a international level, his biggest regret would be that he missed his last chance to kick the ball in an England shirt.

Turning 34 by the end of this month, he will probably sign off his career without winning anything in England colours.

Being one of the most passionate players, and captaining England on a few occasions it’s certainly a huge blow.

Though this may not necessarily be bad all for England, it would most definitely give a chance to the young guns *cough Jordan Henderson cough* of the team to make a name for themselves.

He also knows that he will not be guaranteed a starting place in next seasons Chelsea line-up, with new prospects coming in to put pressure on the Old Guard. He is 16 goals away from becoming the highest scorer for Chelsea. I hope he does that in the short time he will have next season.
