#3 Lucio (FC Goa)
The Brazilian centre-back, a World Cup winner, is an absolute legend of the game and is an inspirational figure for the Gaurs after leading them to the finals last season. FC Goa coach Zico relies on his captain to set the tempo for his team and Lucio’s presence was a calming factor for Goa last season.
The Brazilian made more appearances that any other marquee player in the tournament (14) last season. But there will be slight concerns over his fitness as Lucio has not played for any other club following the conclusion of the ISL last year.
Even then, the team management’s decision to retain him as their marquee player was well received by the fans who will be hoping to see the 38-year-old’s marauding runs from the heart of the defence. After losing last year’s final in heartbreaking fashion, Lucio’s mission this year will be to go one up and lift the title.
