Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos kick started their 2016 tournament campaign with a 3-1 away win over last season's Champions Chennaiyin FC on Thursday. Manager Gianluca Zambrotta, who was satisfied with his team's display, faced the media just a few minutes after the game. Delhi Dynamos' number eight Kean Lewis sat alongside his coach for the press conference.
The former Italian player was asked about his thoughts on winning his first Indian Super League game to which he replied that he is happy but from the next day onwards the team has to focus on the next game.
"For now we are happy but from tomorrow we have to think about the next match", the 39-year-old manager said.
Throughout the game, the former Juventus player was calm and cool at the sideline. Zambrotta spent a small chunk of the game in the dugout too. The Delhi manager only became active at the dying minutes of the game when Chennaiyin FC player Hans Mulder fouled Badara Badji.
"At the beginning I was very calm but I am a pressure man. I started to become a little bit nervous and excited about the match. Unfortunately for me, I cannot play, I have to manage. It is my way to tell the right positioning in the field, but I think all the team, the coaches and the players have done a good job", Zambrotta said about his calmness at the sidelines.
Del Piero wishes team ahead of encounter
Former Delhi Dynamos player and Zambrotta's former teammate Alessandro Del Piero had also sent wishes to his countryman and the team through Twitter just before that game.
"Del Piero was the captain when he played. I was very happy to receive the tweet. And also Del Piero gave us a good luck and fortunately everything was good", the Italian said about his countryman's support.
The Delhi Dynamos were forced to take off their key centre back Anas Edathodika because of an injury to the player from Kerala. Zambrotta was asked for an update on the injury on the centre back and the former AC Milan player revealed that they will have to wait until the next day.
"About Anas we just talked to the doctor and he said he didn't if it is a muscle problem or something stronger. We wish Anas all the best but we will have to wait till tomorrow which will be the response from the medical management."
