It's been more than six weeks in the ongoing fourth season of the Indian Super League and players have started to show their real strengths.
FC Pune City are currently leading the points tally and have the most number of goals, however, there is equal competition among top five teams that include season 2 champions Chennaiyin FC, while Bengaluru FC and FC Goa are also in the title race.
On the other hand, Kerala Blasters and Delhi Dynamos didn't find their touch while NorthEast United FC continues to struggle in this season yet again.
Here are some players who have done exceedingly well this season:
#3 Ferran Corominas
The 34-year-old Spaniard leads the top goal scorer's chart with nine goals in first seven games this season. FC Goa signed him this year. He has scored a couple of hat-tricks this season including the fastest in ISL history against Kerala Blasters. He signed for ISL franchise on a free transfer after a brief stint with Doxa and Mallorca.
He has spent a majority of his professional career with Espanyol and won the Copa Del Rey in the 2005-06 season. After making more than 250 appearances for Spanis clubs, he has brought a ton of experience for FC Goa. He is easily able to link with his compatriot Sergio Lobera, head coach of the club.
#2 Subrata Paul
Jamshedpur may not have been able to score goals but have kept 5 clean sheets to their name with four draws and two wins in eight games so far. It was indeed because of the key signing of team India goalkeeper Subrata Paul. He made 22 saves this season and is on top 2 among most saves this season.
Subrata Paul is rated among the best goalkeepers in Asia. He is one of India's outstanding players and the first Indian goalkeeper to get a contract from any foreign club. Jamshedpur FC made its debut this year but its performance was not as best as the I-League debutant BFC in ISL this season. English head coach Steve Coppell manages the side.
#1 Lucian Goian
Mumbai City FC's, Romanian defender, and club captain, Lucian Goian has made the most number of tackles this season than any other players in the Indian Super Season. He made 61 tackles in 9 games in this season that is almost twice than any other defender so far. MUFC retained him and he proved his potential once again.
He has represented top clubs such as Dinamo Bucuresti in the UEFA Champions League. Goian has played under coach Alexandre Guimaraes in the Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda. He joined the A-League side Perth Glory FC after the conclusion of ISL 2016. He was the best defender in ISL 2017.
