Match 78 of the Indian Super League saw the first game of this week as FC Goa hosted Delhi Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as the Fatorda Stadium in Goa.
The two sides lay in the lower half of the ISL standings with FC Goa in the sixth position with 20 points from their fourteen matches. Delhi Dynamos FC, on the other hand, were in the bottom spot with 11 points from the same number of matches as their opponents FC Goa still had a chance of a playoff spot having played less number of matches than their fellow contenders.
FC Goa's chances took a hit as the two sides played out a 1-1 stalemate at the Fatorda Stadium. Hugo Boumous scored for the Gaurs early in the second half when his shot deflected into the Delhi goal. Delhi equalized through Kalu Uche in the final ten minutes.
On that note, let's take a look at how the players performed during the match.
FC Goa
Naveen Kumar (5.5/10) - The Goan keeper had a quiet first half of the match as Goa did most of the attacking with Delhi sitting back in defence. He was beaten in the second half by Uche with a close-range effort.
Seriton Fernandes (6/10) - The young defender played as the right-back and was highly active on the flank with his overlapping runs. Seriton was stable in the defence as well dealing with the dynamic Lallianzuala Chhangte on his side.
Sergio Juste (5.5/10) - The Spanish defender was the main man in the defence for the home side as he made clearances from the back. He was up against Delhi captain Kalu Uche and had a tough day in the office dealing with the goalscorer.
Mohammed Ali (5.5/10) - The young Indian defender who has been a revelation for FC Goa this season played a good partner in the central defence to Juste. He was good with the blocks and showed good aerial presence as well.
Narayan Das (5.5/10) - The Indian international left-back made a lot of runs in attack and was an option always for Jahouh with his movement.
Ahmed Jahouh (6.5/10) - The pass-master for FC Goa, Jahouh was critical in the central midfield as he kept the ball rolling with his superb ball distribution skills. He looked for the runs from the attackers up ahead and even broke up Delhi plays with his tackling ability.
Edu Bedia (6.5/10) - The Spaniard was his usual industrious shift in the midfield as he moved around creating spaces and assisting Jahouh with his passing ability. He was strong in his tackles as well and got booked by the referee which will see him miss the next match for the Gaurs.
Mandar Rao Desai (5/10) - The local crowd favourite was active on the wings changing from the right to left in the second half and was threatening with his runs.
Hugo Boumous (7/10) - The Frenchman came into the lineup in place of the suspended playmaker Manuel Lanzarote. He came through for the Gaurs as he broke the deadlock early in the second half with a long-range deflected goal.
Brandon Fernandes (5.5/10) - The hometown boy did well making good runs for the midfielders around the Delhi box and kept looking for good balls for Coro ahead of him. He was replaced late in the second half as Manvir Singh was put on by Sergio Lobera.
Ferran Corominas (6.5/10) - Coro was the target man in attack for the home side as he kept threatening the Delhi defence with his attacking runs into the box. He had a lot of efforts on the goal but was unable to get his name on the scoresheet tonight.
Substitutes:
Mark Sifneos (4/10) - The former Kerala Blasters attacker came on in the final ten minutes of the match as the home side looked for the winner.
Manvir Singh (3.5/10) - The young Indian forward was brought on by Lobera towards the end of the match as they increased the attacking intent for the match-winning goal.
Delhi Dynamos FC
Xabier Iruetaguena (6/10) - The Delhi keeper had a decent showing in the first half as Goa kept pressing with an intent on the goal. He was unfortunate to be beaten with a deflected goal early in the second half giving Goa the lead. He had to be sacrificed in the second half when Rowilson Rodrigues was injured after the hour mark and was replaced by Arnab Das Sharma.
Mohammad Dhot (5.5/10) - The young Delhi defender put in an industrious shift as the home side put on a defensive showing in the first half.
Rowilson Rodrigues (5/10) - The Indian centre-back played alongside Gabriel Cichero in the defence and did well to keep the dynamic Goan attack in check. He was replaced after the hour mark when he went down injured and was replaced by Jeroen Lumu in the defence.
Gabriel Cichero (6/10) - The Venezuelan defender was the mainstay in the Delhi defence as he organized the backline to deal with the threat of Coro in the attack. He was strong with his tackles.
Munmun Lugun (5/10) - The former Mumbai FC left-back was busy on the left as Goa kept attacking from all fronts. He was up against the dangerous Mandar Rao Desai on his flank.
Manuel Arana (5.5/10) - The Spanish midfielder played against his former side after joining the Dynamos on loan in the January transfer window. He played in the attack behind Kalu Uche and did well with his movement.
Matias Mirabaje (6/10) - The Delhi midfielder was the major attacking influence in the centre for Delhi as they visitors sat back to defend for the most. He found the runs from the flanks on the counter-attack with his passing ability.
Vinit Rai (6/10) - The Indian defensive midfielder played in front of the Delhi defence and played the first line of defence for the away side. He broke up a lot of plays and played out the ball from the back for Delhi.
Romeo Fernandes (5.5/10) - The Goan winger was a tricky customer for the FC Goa defence with his incisive moment and pace on the flanks. Despite his threat, he wasn't able to penetrate the Goan defence and was replaced by Seityasen Singh in the second half.
Lallianzuala Chhangte (7/10) - The other winger for the Delhi side was an option whenever Delhi broke on the counter. He provided the assist for the Delhi goal when his run was found by Lumu and Chhangte put in a superb low ball for Uche to finish.
Kalu Uche (8/10) - The lone man up ahead for Delhi Dynamos kept the Goan defence on their toes with his physical presence and aerial prowess. He equalized for the away side when he slotted in an easy finish after Chhangte' cross inside the box. He was awarded the Hero of the Match for his performance.
Substitutes:
Arnab Das Sharma (5/10) - The Indian keeper replaced Xabi in the second half as Delhi made two changes to their lineup. He made a crucial diving save in the dying minutes, denying Coro a chance from inside the box.
Jeroen Lumu (4.5/10) - The midfielder came on after the hour mark when he replaced the injured Rowilson Rodrigues in defence. He found Lallianzuala Chhangte's run on the left with a great through ball that led to the Delhi goal.
Seityasen Singh (4/10) - The winger came on to replace Romeo Fernandes in the attack as Delhi coach Portugal introduced fresh legs into the attack.
