After a brilliant start to their ISL 2017 campaign, the Delhi Dynamos slumped to their second defeat in two games after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of NorthEast United FC on Saturday. In what was their first game of the season at home, the Dynamos drew a blank as the Highlanders, who hadn't scored a single goal so far this season, scored twice early in the game and then held on to the lead.
The first goal of the match came through Marcinho in the 17th minute, as he gave his side the lead. However, it was the second goal that stood out as the Delhi goalkeeper Albino Gomes made a horrific error that gifted the ball to Danilo Cezario, who had the easiest of tasks of putting the ball into the empty net.
The goal came in the 22nd minute when the former Aizawl FC stopper received a backpass from his defender and as the NEUFC striker Cezario charged at him, the keeper missed his kick in a rush to clear the ball first-time.
The ball rebounded off his shin and Cezario was able to get a foot in, which cleared the path for him to score. The forward ran towards the gaping goal and slotted the ball home, doubling his side's lead as a result.
The Dynamos created a number of chances later in the game but were unable to convert as the Highlanders picked up their first win of the season. In their next match, the Guwahati-based side take on Bengaluru FC at home on November 8 while the Dynamos host Jamshedpur on December 6.
