What's the story?
Kerala Blasters forward and fan favourite CK Vineeth has responded to West Block Blues, the fan group of ISL newcomers Bengaluru FC on Twitter ahead of the much-awaited Kerala Blasters - Bengaluru FC match-up on December 31st.
In case you didn't know...
Vineeth featured for Bengaluru FC in their inaugural Hero I-League season, where the club created history winning the league title in their debut season. He continued with the Blues till the last season winning two I-League titles and two Federation Cups.
He played on loan for the Kerala Blasters for ISL seasons 2 and 3, before signing permanently before the start of the ongoing edition.
The heart of the matter
The West Block Blues tweeted to the official ISL account as a cheeky response to the Christmas wish. The tweet referred to their former players Vineeth and close friend Rino Anto, another former Bengaluru FC player, combining on the field for many goals for the Blues.
As a response to this tweet, C.K Vineeth responded in welcoming fashion and expressed his joy combining with Rino during the BFC days. He went on to welcome the West Block Blues for the December 31 clash in Kochi.
The response comes across as a positive touch to an otherwise highly competitive clash fuelled by the social media clashes between the fanbases of the two teams i.e. the West Block Blues of Bengaluru FC and Manjappada of the Kerala Blasters.
What's next?
Kerala Blasters host Bengaluru FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi at 5:30 pm on December 31 in what will be a hotly contested clash both on and off the pitch.
Author's take
After the social media fracas between the two fan bases, this tweet response from Vineeth is a refreshing change and goes to show his respect for his former team with whom he won so many laurels.
