What's the Story
South African winger Sameehg Doutie is set to be dropped from the Jamshedpur FC squad after he stormed off from the dressing room post Jamshedpur's 1-0 win over Delhi Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, on Wednesday.
In Case You Didn't Know
Doutie spent most of the match on the bench and was substituted on the pitch in the 90th minute. He was obviously livid at the fact that a player of his talent was being given such little playing time. The 28-year-old began his ISL career with defending champions ATK.
The Heart of the Matter
After the match, Doutie, who is said to have had an argument with some of his teammates, stormed away from the stadium without even waiting for the team bus. Meanwhile his worried teammates and support staff spent nearly the entire night searching for him. After this stint, the South African winger is set to be dropped from the club's squad, according to sources.
Doutie's fall out with the team management has not been taken well. His behaviour had annoyed Jamshedpur and showed them that he is no longer committed to the team. Prior to the Delhi matchup, the South African featured in all 3 of Jamshedpur's matches. He had been enjoying a good season until this ugly incident.
What's next?
For their upcoming clash against Pune City, the ISL newcomers might be a man down but Doutie's poor form so far this season could mean that Jamshedpur might not end up missing his services at all.
Sportskeeda's Take
This is not the first time a sportsperson has been let go due to disciplinary issues. Although there is no denying that Sameehg is a talented player, Jamshedpur have proven that they will not be taken for a ride and stood their ground.
